MEMORIAL BENCH
This cedar bench was commissioned by a friend in memory of his mother. It sits at the top of a peaceful hill in the cemetery, overlooking Westville, Nov Scotia.
A sea-blue stained oak strip is inset into the Eastern White cedar back of this bench.
It was very important to me that, despite its contemporary geometric lines, this bench be comfortable. The seat and back had to be tilted to just the right degree, which took time to achieve during the prototype phase.
The client's intention was that this bench live at the top of the hill in the Westville Cemetery under the cedar stand, thru all seasons. It has been there now for 4 years. I visit whenever I'm in the area, and sit for a while.
